Diani House and Mukurumuji
|
One of the original houses in the Diani area, this large and
comfortable family holiday home is set in twelve acres of forested
tropical gardens. Stunning views over green lawns lead the eye down
to a pure white beach and the deep blue waters of the Indian Ocean.
Diani House is perfectly located for your relaxing beach holiday
of a lifetime. Your hosts have an excellent knowledge of the area
and will be delighted to show you around, or simply ensure that
you are able to sit back, relax and do nothing - the choice is yours.

Rooms
There are just four spacious, ensuite bedrooms at Diani House. Each room has its
own verandah and enjoys a panoramic view of the gardens, forest, beach and ocean.
The rooms are simple with whitewashed walls and large, comfortable Swahili style
wooden beds. Simple creature comforts abound.

Meals
Food is a special feature of a Diani House holiday, with the emphasis on seafood.
Every morning fishermen deliver fish and shellfish to the kitchen, providing an
abundance of marine variety. Excellent local produce is put to good use
by the Diani House chef, allowing you to savor new local dishes as well as your
own personal favorites; special diets are easily accommodated on request. Meals
are usually taken al fresco on the front verandah, although you may choose to
eat on your own verandah or to visit one of the several, excellent local restaurants
as well.
Activities
Should lazing around in the sunshine not be your style, there is no shortage of
activities - try swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing, bird watching, beach walks
to the rock pools or visiting the local market. Further afield, visit the historic
town of Mombasa or head out for a day of deep-sea fishing on the ocean. Scuba
diving, tennis, golf and squash are all easily arranged as well. After all this
exercise, why not enjoy a massage or a yoga session to unwind?

Safari
Fancy a safari? Just one hour's drive from Diani, the Shimba Hills National
Reserve is a beautiful area of forested hills, home to elephant, buffalo,
leopard, giraffe and Kenya's only herds of sable antelope. The distant ocean views
and the abundance of bird life, butterflies and plants ensure that there is always
something of interest for you to watch as you explore the hills.
|
|
Should you wish to stay overnight, Diani House has its own private tented
safari camp, Mukurumuji, which borders the Shimba reserve. The four comfortable,
double tents have their own bathroom and veranda; each is covered by a palm thatched
roof. At Mukurumuji peace and quiet abounds.
The friendly and accommodating staff will do their utmost to make you feel
at home, providing you with tasty meals and local information, accompanying you
on walks through the forest down to the river and taking you to visit the local
African farms in the area. If you are yearning for a sunshine filled, relaxing
and interesting beach and bush vacation, with personal care and attention, Diani
House is the perfect location for you.
