A once in a lifetime experience! Personally tailored to suit your parties'
requirements, there is simply no better way to explore the vast area of Kenya's
Northern Frontier District. Walking with the local Ndorobo or Samburu people as
your guides, while using camels as your load-bearers, you could not ask for a
better introduction to the stark beauty of this little explored area.
Explore the rugged hills, search for buffalo and elephant along the banks of
the river, follow the honey-guide bird through the bush to find the hidden nests
and learn the survival techniques of the desert tribes. Forget about the Twentieth
Century on this adventure safari while you explore Kenya in the Nineteenth Century
style of Speke and Burton when they walked across Africa to discover the source
of the Nile.
At the end of the day, relax in comfortable stand-up tents with real beds;
enjoy hot showers and three-course dinners before sitting around the campfire
and listening to the African bush sounds. Those old time explorers had busy days,
but they relaxed in style in the evenings!
Clients have ranged in age from four to eighty-four; walks can vary from one
hour to five hours a day. Four or five night safaris are usual, but up to twelve
nights can be arranged.
Both Desert Rose and Sabuk
offer the chance to explore the wilderness with these wonderful "ships of the
desert" by your side.
