Takaungu

Overlooking a white, sandy beach fringed with palm trees, Takaungu is situated in front of Indian Ocean coral treasures. With a relaxed atmosphere, one can beach-comb on the long beach, snorkel and scuba dive on the spectacular coral reefs, bird-watch while sailing up the Kilifi Creek or simply relax on a cool verandah and watch the Indian Ocean.

If you want to explore more afield, it's an easy drive to visit the Arabuko-Sokoke Forest and Vuma Cliffs. Moonspinner, a 40-foot ketch owned and operated by your hosts and moored in the nearby Swynford Boatyard, is ready for you to sail.

Places of historical interest are dotted all along this ancient coastline, waiting for you to discover them.

Your hosts Philip and Charlotte Mason, both Kenyan born and bred, have lived at Takaungu for the last twenty years, enjoying its commanding view of the Indian Ocean. For a relaxing break at the end of your safari, Takaungu is the perfect spot.

Mundui Estate

Mundui's 1,200 acres is itself a conservation area, set within the boundaries of Lake Naivasha's protected wetland and Kenya's award winning Ramsar Site. Here you'll find a 1932 hunting lodge set on the edge of the Lake, a small piece of Kenya's colonial history with large, airy rooms and stunning views.

Takaungu is a relaxed homestay on Kenya's north coast.

A paradise in the Rift Valley. Surrounded by hills to the west and south and overlooking Lake Naivasha to the east, the landscape varies from dry savanna to acacia woodland, encapsulating a range of different habitats.

With its many different wildlife species and over 280 species of birds, Mundui is one of the last remaining pristine pieces of land in the Rift Valley, offering a breathtaking retreat for the perceptive traveler.

For both tranquility and exposure to the marvelous biodiversity of this piece of Africa, Mundui is a unique destination.

The Tana Delta Camp

Totally unspoilt, Tana Delta Camp gives a taste of wilderness right on the Indian Ocean. The Tana Delta region is internationally recognized as one of Kenya's most important wetland areas; the Camp owners are deeply involved in the conservation of this unique, tidal ecosystem.

Tana Delta Camp is a remote and wild permanent camp in Kenya.

This unique camp is situated by the mouth of the mighty Tana River, north of Malindi Town, on the curve of a 30-mile beach with the huge sand dunes marking the edge of Unguana Bay. With the Tana River on one side of the Camp, and the Indian Ocean on the other side, who could ask for anything more?
