Safari
June 6, 2002
Eco-resorts offers African safaris for the amateur ornithologist in you. Their
10-day bird watching trip provides a unique insight into many bird species, as
well as into the natural beauty of Africa's landscapes and her people. This safari
confirms that Kenya really does have the second highest number of bird species
in the world!
East Africa is one of the richest bird areas in the world. There
are over 1000 species, many of which are extremely rare. These include
the Scopes owl, Sokoke pipit, great blue turaco, Amani sunbird and
large numbers of raptors. On or near water, you will find bright
pink flamingos, hammerkops, iridescent kingfishers, plovers, herons,
storks, cranes, jacanas and of course, the magnificent African Fish
Eagle.
Explore diverse habitats while spotting rare species. The forests
of Kenya have several endemic bird species, which cannot be found
anywhere else in the world. The savannahs have a confirmed species
list of over 400! One of the best places in the country for bird
watching is Lake Baringo. Walking or boating offers great birding
opportunities not available within the national parks, which confine
visitors to vehicles.
The Eco-resorts safaris include all transfers, accommodation, meals,
activities and excursions stated in the itinerary, driver/guide
on safari, park entrance fees and local taxes. Charges do not include
international flights, visas, tips, personal purchases, drinks or
international departure taxes. Costs run between $150 and $250 per
person, per night.
